Two new restaurants should be popping up on First Ave soon

Two signs recently popped up along First Avenue north of Grant Road — Asian Sofrito and Smokey Mo.

Asian Sofrito will open at 2530 N. First Ave., which previously housed Wild Garlic Grill. The sign says “Chinese Caribbean Fusion Food” — more details to come.

Smokey Mo sits a few buildings north at 2650 N. First Ave., which was empty since Shari’s First Ave. Drive-in closed in 2008. It’s not clear if it’s a location for the Texas barbecue chain of the same name — more details to come.

We’ve reached out for more info and will update as we learn more.
