"It's both exciting and bittersweet at the same time."
The local beer house that began brewing 10 years ago, and then opened the doors to its downtown location in 2018, is moving out of the space at 110 E. Congress St.
This summer, Ten55 Brewing Company will be making moves to another building located in the midtown area, with plans to open near the end of the season. The move begins on Wednesday, June 1, meaning that the last day to enjoy a crisp beer at the downtown location is Sunday, May 29.
“We’re going to need a bigger boat”
Throughout the pandemic, Chris Squires, managing partner of Ten55 Brewing Company, merged into the distribution side of things. It was an intelligent decision but the downtown pub brewery has outgrown the space.
So, in order to offer its beer to the masses and meet the distribution demand, a larger building is in the works.
“We’re gonna be closed for most of the summer while we are doing construction on the new space,” said Squires. “It’s both exciting and bittersweet at the same time. To be able to make enough beer to sell on-site and to be a restaurant and brewery, we’ve exceeded the capacity of this space by far more than we thought we were gonna be able to do here. So, in the long term, we’re finding bigger space.”
With that being said, the new location, which an address has yet to be announced, will be closed for the summer while the crew gets the space prepared for brewing, eating, drinking, and good times.
Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks as Ten55 Brewing finalizes where the new location, which will be a Ten55 Brewing branded restaurant, too.
