The local fun continues to roll in on the Foodie calendar and it’s not about which event you should go to — it’s how many events you should attend. The answer is simple and it’s all of them, but that would be rather difficult to pull off. So, keep reading because there’s a lot to choose from this week.

Women in Whiskey: The women of prohibition

If you’re interested in learning more about the art of tasting fine whiskeys, you’re incited to join Join Whiskey Del Bac’s Janna Hoffman. Janna will instruct on how to taste whiskey, sample Whiskey Del Bac’s expressions, and guide the conversation on the women during prohibition that created a movement. This event is for anyone — not just women.

In the words of Matt Sterner, “for those looking for a cocktail that’ll knock their socks off, keep scrolling.” The Monica is hosting an epic night of cocktails and fun. The following mixologists will be competing for your vote in order to win a cash prize and be named the winner.

Gertie AND THE T.O. BOYS WAILA DANCE FUNDRAISER

If you’re looking for a sign to do something for a good cause and have a good time, this is it. La Indita is hosting a fall feast and fundraiser for the Tohono O’Odham school in Magdalena.

Cost: $20 per person. This includes admission and your ticket for food. Kids under 13 years old are free.

ZUMBA AND BRUNCH AT THE TUCSON MUSEUM OF ART AND HISTORIC BLOCK

Zumba your way into the weekend!

Hosted at the Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block, this event is organized by  Cafe a la C’Art’s very own Sisco Razcon-Camacho, who is also a Zumba instructor. His younger brother Emmanuel, who also works the weekends at the cafe, dances with Sunnyside High Folklorico. The proceeds from the Zumba event will go to Emmanuel’s class.

Cost: $15 per person — what a deal! This includes an hour class led by multiple instructors, free entrance into the museum, and a free coffee or mimosa with brunch at the cafe.

It’s a dog wash where you can drink beer and support a good cause. Here fur it!

Help Barrio Brewing collect some much-needed goods for our furry pals at the Pima Animal Care Center (PACC). For every 5 items donated, receive a beer nickel (limit 10 items donated). You can also contribute by bringing your pup to Barrio to be washed and the proceeds going towards helping PACC.

WHEN THE SOMM MAKES THE WINE TASTING

HARVEST MOON CULTURAL FEST & MURAL UNVEILING

Sunday, October 23 from 4 – 9 p.m.

It’s going to be an evening of celebration and dancing with the Tohono O’odham Waila Bands Gertie & the T.O. Boyz, Papago Warrior, and classical guitarist Gabriel Ayala. They will be unveiling an interactive mural project by local artists Johanna Martinez, Luck Salway, and Serena Tang of Luxxarte Artists’ Collective.

Hear stories, songs, and lore from some of Southern Arizona’s Knowledge Keepers depicted in the murals from experts, historians, seed collectors, farmers, and artisans from all over our borderlands. Check out local vendors and sample local harvests with foods and offerings by native chefs here in Southern AZ and enjoy the cool vibe and history of Old Town Artisans’ courtyard.

Cost: $20 suggested donation at the door.
