A Colorado-based company is set to establish its new 270,000-square-foot industrial facility on the southeast side of Tucson. MicroStar Logistics, a leading keg logistics provider, plans to hire more than 200 workers for this state-of-the-art facility, dedicated to warehousing and reconditioning stainless-steel beer kegs.

As part of its “shared keg” service, MicroStar reconditions beer kegs, allowing empty kegs to be returned to the nearest participating brewery, reducing transportation costs and environmental impact. Additionally, the company recently launched a network for managing reusable plastic shipping pallets used in the beer keg industry.

“After almost three decades of perfecting the keg logistics supply chain in the beer industry, MicroStar is excited to expand our expertise into our Network Services Division. This extension allows us to offer further efficiencies to our valued brewers,” said Michael Hranicka, President and CEO of MicroStar. “We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with Constellation Brands and together, build more circular supply chains, embracing our shareable steel kegs and adopting reusable pallets.”

The new MicroStar facility will be located just off I-10, between Rita Road and Houghton Road.

It is expected to create approximately 200 new jobs, providing a significant economic boost to the Southern Arizona region. The roles will span various departments, including operations, production, quality control, logistics, management, and more. MicroStar is finalizing plans for securing 20 acres at the Rita Ranch Commerce Center in Tucson, where the impressive building will stand.

“Pima County is delighted to welcome MicroStar Logistics to our thriving business community,” said Sharon Bronson, Pima County Supervisor, District 3. “With its substantial capital investment and numerous job opportunities spanning various disciplines, MicroStar is an exciting addition. We are fully committed to supporting MicroStar’s workforce development needs and eagerly anticipate having them as part of our vibrant business landscape.”

Boasting an impressive portfolio, MicroStar holds the title of the largest independent owner of beer kegs, boasting nearly 6 million kegs in use under the MicroStar and KegCraft brands in the U.S., and Kegstar in Australia, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

Construction for this venture is set to commence in August, with completion expected by the end of July 2024, as per the company’s city incentive application. Keep an eye out for their expansion and get ready to toast to a more sustainable and thriving beer future.
