Last month, Tucson Foodie teamed up with Iron Chef Tucson and co-hosted the very first Amateur Iron Chef competition — the Grilled Cheese Showdown. Out of nearly 20 recipes, chefs Ken Foy and Devon Sanner narrowed it down to two amateur chefs with Andy Voraphat coming out on top.

Now, it’s your chance to learn how to make the award-winning grilled cheese sandwich. Antsy Nancy, located at 5655 E. River Rd. #101, is hosting a “Lunch & Learn” cooking class at noon on Friday, August 25.

Heidi Yribar, owner of Antsy Nancy, hosts these “Lunch & Learn” classes monthly, and attendees enjoy a delicious lunch while learning how to prepare it by watching a live chef demonstration.

For this class, you’ll make the grilled cheese sandwich Voraphat made during the Iron Chef Tucson amateur competition, who prepared a Korean spin on an American classic. His sandwich featured kimchi and cheesy corn — a combination foodies loved on July 22. Voraphat took home the first Golden Spatula award for making this cheesy masterpiece.

Additionally, all of those taking the class will be served their choice of iced tea, lemonade, or ice water, upon arrival, along with a starter of BBQ Vegetables. The grilled cheese will be served with a side dish of ramen noodles and then dessert will be Antsy Nancy’s Pink Champagne cupcakes — a huge hit at the 2023 Tucson Iron Chef event.

Tickets are $65 per person and can be purchased online now (get ’em before it’s sold out).
