"We have very good, dedicated customers."

Campbell Avenue is known to many as a “food and local restaurant hub” because it has miles of options — about four miles if you make the trek from Trident Pizza Pub to St. Philip’s Plaza. Tucked away in a strip of businesses near Glenn Street, India Oven has been contributing to the local food scene now for 30 years.

Raksha Bhatti, co-owner of India Oven, grew up in the restaurant business, which eventually inspired her to open India Oven back in the ’90s. She loves cooking Indian food and when asked about their anniversary, Raksha’s excitement was unmistakable.

“I’m very happy! It’s been 30 years, and I’m so happy for the people of Tucson,” said Bhatti. “We have very good, dedicated customers — one that’s been dining with us since 1994 — and they’ve helped us to be successful. We’re very happy.”

The menu, based around Bhatti’s family recipes, specializes in Northern Indian and Punjabi cuisine. It’s full of traditional dishes that can be ordered plated or as part of the buffet. One of the most popular dishes is the Chicken Tikka Masala — the chicken is marinated in a bright red, tomato-based sauce. You can soothe the spice with a tangy Mango Lassi drink because it balances the rich, spicy flavors.

The restaurant is currently open daily from 11 a.m. – 2:45 (buffet) and then again from 5 – 8:45 p.m. (the regular menu).
