El Minuto Cafe is Reopening After a Temporary Closure

June 6, 2024
By Matt Sterner

A couple of months ago, the downtown restaurant shut its doors to work on some much-needed renovations. It was a relief to learn that the closure was only temporary for roof repairs and other minor fixes.

El Minuto Cafe has an official grand reopening date now: Friday, June 7.

The construction crews weren’t messin’ around either — the roof was repaired and some other fixes were made slightly ahead of schedule.

Grand Reopening Deals

Throughout the weekend, El Minuto Cafe will be offering specials on its birria and chicken fajitas, as well as half-off discounts on all Mexican beers.

If you’ve never been, or if it’s been a while, some standout dishes on the menu include the rich red chile con carne, hot chile rellenos oozing with queso, Sonoran-style white menudo, and chicken enchiladas topped with smoky-sweet enchilada sauce.

Oh, and you must try one of the cheese crisps! Share it with others if you’re feeling friendly.

A lot of memorable moments have been had at the restaurant that’s been open since 1936. Over the years, celebrities like Linda Ronstadt and other well-known folks in the public eye have eaten at the restaurant.

So, get in there on Friday, June 7, or anytime after, to make new memories with the family and staff.

The hours of operation are 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Tuesday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Sunday, and closed on Monday.

El Minuto Cafe is located at 354 S. Main St. For more information, visit elminutotucson.com and follow El Minuto Cafe on Instagram. Read our September 2019 article â€śFour Generations Serving Sonoran-Style Mexican Specialties.”
