When you don’t want to think to much and just eat, a big ol’ bowl of rice and protein combines sustenance in a convenient form factor. At Katsu House, that combination reaches a few levels higher with their Katsudon Bowls.

The mound of seasoned rice lays underneath of bed of fluffy eggs scrambled with caramelized onions and a sweet and savory broth and a pile of green onions for freshness and more umami.

For toppings, choose from pork, chicken thigh, portobello mushroom, or steak. Pork and chicken appear on more katsudons around town, but here, go for the steak; the portion of is generous and surprisingly tender for how affordable the bowl is, maintaining the light airy crunch from the panko crust.

If the large portion somehow doesn’t fill you up, Katsu house also offers a variety of onigiri and other dishes done with a Japanese twist, including smash burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches.

Katsu House is located at 220 E. Broadway Blvd. Keep up with Katsu House on Instagram.
