“Tucson is not just where I live,” said Kevin Bedient. “It’s where I’m raising my family, I’ve put down roots, built relationships and laid the foundation for something bigger than myself.”

Kevin Bedient builds community through consistent, practical work that connects people, places, and purpose across Tucson. His involvement with Sonoran House, The Centurions board of directors, and The Centurions 2026 Americana Extravaganza fundraising event reflects a pattern of civic engagement rooted in participation rather than visibility.

From local business to broader civic impact

His professional background begins in the private sector, where he helps lead Advantage Air Mechanical, a family-owned business with deep local ties. Yet his influence extends well beyond business operations. Across multiple roles, Bedient focuses on creating environments where people gather, collaborate, and contribute to something larger than themselves.

Sonoran House as a neighborhood anchor

At Sonoran House Sam Hughes, that work takes shape at the neighborhood level as a partner. The concept functions as a hybrid market, café, and gathering space that showcases goods from more than 150 local artisans. As a result, it provides a direct retail channel for small-scale makers.

“The local artisans and business owners from Tucson and the Southwest are the folks dedicated to growing and making our community better,” Bedient said.

That model also positions the business as an economic platform for local creators and a social hub for the surrounding community. In the Sam Hughes location, Bedient helped bring back a market-style gathering place to a historic site, reinforcing the idea that hospitality can serve as neighborhood infrastructure. His emphasis on local identity, from product selection to food and beverage programming, reflects a broader commitment to Tucson’s cultural ecosystem.

Leadership within The Centurions

That same commitment carries into his role with The Centurions. Bedient served as social chairman beginning in 2019, later advancing to vice president in 2024, and continuing as a board member. In those roles, he helped organize member events and maintain engagement within the organization, including during the pandemic, when safe, structured gatherings became critical to sustaining connection.

The Centurions is a non-profit membership organization that is dedicated to serving underserved children and their families across Southern Arizona. Members contribute through volunteer work, sponsorship efforts, and event production. Bedient’s work organizing people within the group directly supports its ability to execute large-scale charitable initiatives.

Americana Extravaganza and large-scale impact

That connection becomes most visible in the group’s 2026 event, The Centurions Americana Extravaganza, where Bedient serves as event chair. The annual fundraiser draws more than 8,000 attendees and has raised more than $9.5 million for local charities focused on healthcare, education, and mentorship for at-risk children and their families.

“The Centurions Event is one of the highlights of the year for our community,” Bedient said. ”Where you blend hard work and having fun while supporting local charities that need our help.”

The event blends entertainment and philanthropy at scale. It features live music, food, drinks, casino-style gaming, raffles, and sponsorship activations designed to drive participation. At the same time, its purpose remains focused. Proceeds benefit organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Arizona, the Children’s Advocacy Center for Southern Arizona, and TMC for Children.

As chair, Bedient takes on a role that requires coordination across sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and attendees. The position demands both operational discipline and community trust, as the success of the event depends on sustained engagement from Tucson’s business and social networks.

A consistent model for community involvement

His work across these spaces reflects a consistent approach. At Sonoran House, he helps create physical environments where people connect and support local makers. Within The Centurions, he organizes and sustains a volunteer community. Through The Centurions Americana Extravaganza, he helps transform that collective energy into measurable impact for children and families.

Importantly, these efforts reinforce each other. Relationships built through business and hospitality feed into nonprofit work, while volunteer networks support large-scale fundraising efforts. That overlap creates a system where participation leads to broader community benefit.

Measurable outcomes in Tucson

Bedient’s community involvement becomes clear through those outcomes. He supports local artisans by helping create viable retail platforms. He strengthens civic organizations by fostering engagement. And he leads a major fundraising effort that directs significant resources to those in need.

In Tucson, that kind of leadership often works quietly. Yet its impact shows up in thriving local spaces, active volunteer networks, and sustained charitable giving. Bedient’s role across these efforts underscores a simple, but effective model: bring people together, create opportunities for participation, and ensure the benefits extend beyond the immediate moment.
