IOU Sushi III (formerly known as IOU Sushi IV) offers an extensive all-you-can-east sushi service in a casual strip mall location with friendly service. . TVs and a laid-back sushi bar add to the easygoing neighborhood atmosphere.

The menu highlights specialty sushi rolls and nigiri with a variety of sauces.

Kazoku – Sushi & Japanese Cuisine

Kazoku Sushi & Japanese Cuisine offers a tranquil atmosphere with a classic Japanese aesthetic. The interior features landscape murals framed like shoji screens, soft globe lighting, and tiled floors.

The menu features popular items like the Kazoku Roll, made with spicy crab, cucumber, salmon, tuna, and masago, and the Dragon Roll with eel and avocado. Korean-style options, including Beef Bulgogi and Spicy Pork, round out the menu.

Kukai

Located within repurposed shipping containers at the lively MSA Annex, Kukai serves Japanese fare. It features covered outdoor seating with picnic tables, shaded by containers and surrounded by an open‑air vibe.

While they originally opened focusing on onigiri, they gained a following for other dishes as well, such as the Hakata‑style pork ramen, Mt. Fuji Don, and karaage.

OBON Sushi Bar Ramen

OBON Sushi Bar Ramen offers a sleek, modern atmosphere. The interior features polished concrete floors, exposed ceilings, and a long sushi bar. The outdoor patio provides additional seating for guests a prime view for downtown people-watching.

The menu showcases a variety Asian dishes, but don’t miss out on the Bird Bao Buns. OBON also offers a selection of classic cocktails with an Asian twist, such as the Black Tea Old Fashioned.

Sachiko Sushi on Wilmot

Sachiko Sushi on Wilmot is a total gem in Tucson, serving up some seriously tasty Japanese and Korean bites. Their food is always fresh and carefully made, setting them apart from your typical sushi spots. You’ve gotta try their Shrimp Tempura and the Vegas Roll – they’re super delicious and a big hit with the regulars.

Samurai Sombrero (at American Eat Co.)

Samurai Sombrero offers a fusion of Japanese sushi techniques with bold Sonoran-style flavors. The counter-service space inside American Eat Co presents a casual atmosphere with a food-hall feel, bright décor, and a laid-back crowd with friendly co-owners Gabriela Delgadillo and Jesus Oleta.

Highlights include the signature Lobster Popcorn Roll and Abigail Roll. The Death Free Foodie Roll, aimed at vegan diners, includes avocado and tempura jalapeño with unagi sauce.

Yamato Japanese Restaurant

Yamato Japanese Restaurant is this super chill spot tucked away in a strip mall in Tucson. It’s been around for over 30 years, serving up some seriously good sushi. The main man behind the magic is Chef Nakajima, who grew up in Nagano, Japan, and you can totally tell he knows his stuff. Every piece of sushi is like a mini masterpiece, all thanks to his careful and spot-on skills. He keeps things old-school, focusing more on perfecting his sushi game than trying to mix it up with fusion stuff. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the area!
