The area of I-19 and Irvington Road has really blossomed with national chains over the years, adding restaurants like Ojos Locos and The Habit Burger Grill, and now a newcomer to the city is joining the bunch.

The very first Main Event is coming to Tucson at the Landing Shopping Center located at 4700 S. Landing Way. The Plano, Texas-based entertainment venue with family-friendly food, games, and drinks is actually owned by Dave & Busters. Main Event currently has 52 locations in 17 states, with other Arizona locations being in Avondale, Gilbert, and Tempe.

five days of deals

The entertainment and bowling-focused restaurant is hosting a five-day Grand Opening celebration from Friday, March 3 – Monday, March 6 (they’ve even got a nifty countdown timer on their website).

Grand Opening Festivities Schedule

  • Friday, March 3: The official Grand Opening and the first 200 guests in line will get free laser tag for a year
  • Saturday, March 4: For every strike bowled, Main Event will donate $10 to a local charity through Friday, March 10
  • Sunday, March 5: Any family that finishes their Big Fun Super Sundae in five minutes will get it for free
  • Monday, March 6: All-you-can-play games or activities for $12 per person after 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 7: Get a free kid’s meal with a purchase of an entree of $8.99 or more (all day)
What’s on the menu?

Much like Round1 at the Park Place Mall and its parent company Dave & Busters, Main Event will be serving up pizza, nachos, burgers, greasy sandwiches, chicken wings, and more.

Something that’ll really get your fingers greasy is the new PBB&J Burger they’re releasing in other spots around the U.S. It’s a combination of peanut butter, blueberry jam, American cheese, and crispy bacon on two burger patties. There’s also a Triple Lava Burger — three smashed patties topped with cheese sauce and caramelized onions.

For dessert, Mini Mason Jar Cheesecakes that come in flavors like OREO, chocolate hazelnut, and caramel apple with be on-hand amongst other sweet treats.

And, of course, to help the adults and parents loosen up and perhaps manage all of the noise, there will be a bar full of cocktails and beer.

Gaming in Tucson

Even though Main Event is a national chain it’s always good to see that others find Tucson as desirable as we locals do.

Locally, there are plenty of spots to get your game on. One example will be the new Corbett Lane once it opens up on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Seventh Street with its burgers, beer garden, and five pickleball courts. A few other options include Tucson Hop Shop with its arcade machine and board games, Brother John’s Beer, Bourbon & BBQ and The Barnyard Crafthouse & Eatery both have patio games like cornhole, the Surly Wench has arcade games, Hotel McCoy has pinball and a claw machine, Cobra Arcade Bar (based out of Phoenix) is always a blast downtown, and if you’re feeling gutsy, there’s a gigantic Ouija board upstairs at Hotel Congress.

Main Event also houses a bowling alley to accompany your nachos, beer, and double-decker burgers. It’s got some big shoes to fill with the likes of Lucky Strike Bowl, Cactus Bowl, Tucson Bowl, Bowlero, Fiesta Lanes, and others around town.

Again, these are just a few spots out of the several entertaining local businesses in Tucson.

Main Event is located at 4700 S. Landing Way. For more information, visit mainevent.com.
