Angry Crab Shack Tucson to Open September 1

Angry Crab Shack Tucson to Open September 1

Aug 25, 20172 min read

After months of delays, the eagerly-anticipated Angry Crab Shack Tucson location will officially open on Friday, September 1.

This marks the seventh location for Angry Crab since its inception three years ago. A second location for Tucson’s east side is a possibility, depending on how well this location performs, said Marc Guevara, COO and owner of Angry Crab.

While the menu offers assorted fried seafood, burgers, po’ boys, barbecue, and more, the main draw is the Seafood Market priced by the pound. Live and fresh seafood are flown in daily, with crawfish being the frozen exception unless it’s in season.

Guests choose a seafood, a sauce, and spice level. The Trifecta is the most popular sauce, being a combination of their Kajun, Lemon Pepper, and Garlic. The spice level currently ranges from zero to five,  the hottest being the Scorching Scorpion.

While the menu will be nearly similar to other locations, adjustments will be made as needed for the Tucson palate and culinary trends.

“We move quick,” Guevara said. “We try to stay up with what’s going on in the culinary world.”

For those that haven’t ventured north yet, Angry Crab’s service style is unique. Items (seafood and sauce) are served in a plastic bag which can then be dumped onto the paper-lined table for customers to eat with their hands. Bibs are provided, but don’t wear a white shirt to be on the safe side.

If you’re looking for a quiet environment, you’ll need earplugs. Whenever customers order the spiciest buckets or it’s someone’s birthday, the siren will sound off with a megaphone announcement.

“It’s rambunctious, loud,” Guevara said. “You come in here with a good attitude.”

The family-friendly environment also features several televisions with Pac-12 and NFL games. Customers are encouraged to write on the walls to help develop the sense of community.

Since Angry Crab is barely west of the Interstate 10 at 1365 W. Grant Rd., making a left turn into the parking lot can be tricky during rush hour. Head eastbound on Grant from Silverbell Road if you can so you can simply turn right into the lot instead.

Also, be aware that seating is first-come first-serve and that the other Angry Crab locations typically experience a 60-to-90-minute wait during peak hours, 4 – 8 p.m.

Angry Crab Shack is located at 1365 W. Grant Rd. Operating hours will be 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Friday – Saturday. For more information, call (520) 398-5004 or keep up with Angry Crab Tucson on Facebook.

@Pueblovida is closing its original downtown taproom this fall, 12 years after opening, and moving next door to a larger space at 121 E. Broadway Blvd.

The new taproom will seat 100+ guests and feature 14 taps, a curated wine program and, for the first time, a restaurant. Chef Scott Girod of @Anello_pizzeria will open a new restaurant in the shared space, expected to follow the taproom’s late fall 2026 opening in early 2027.

“This taproom has always been more than four walls. It’s where we’ve celebrated milestones, introduced hundreds of new beers, watched friendships grow and built a community we’re incredibly grateful for. While we’re excited about what’s next, it’s impossible not to feel sentimental about saying goodbye to the place where it all happened.” — @Pueblovida Co-founder Linette Antillon
