After months of delays, the eagerly-anticipated Angry Crab Shack Tucson location will officially open on Friday, September 1.
This marks the seventh location for Angry Crab since its inception three years ago. A second location for Tucsonâs east side is a possibility, depending on how well this location performs, said Marc Guevara, COO and owner of Angry Crab.
While the menu offers assorted fried seafood, burgers, poâ boys, barbecue, and more, the main draw is the Seafood Market priced by the pound. Live and fresh seafood are flown in daily, with crawfish being the frozen exception unless itâs in season.
Guests choose a seafood, a sauce, and spice level. The Trifecta is the most popular sauce, being a combination of their Kajun, Lemon Pepper, and Garlic. The spice level currently ranges from zero to five,  the hottest being the Scorching Scorpion.
While the menu will be nearly similar to other locations, adjustments will be made as needed for the Tucson palate and culinary trends.
âWe move quick,â Guevara said. âWe try to stay up with whatâs going on in the culinary world.â
For those that havenât ventured north yet, Angry Crabâs service style is unique. Items (seafood and sauce) are served in a plastic bag which can then be dumped onto the paper-lined table for customers to eat with their hands. Bibs are provided, but donât wear a white shirt to be on the safe side.

If youâre looking for a quiet environment, youâll need earplugs. Whenever customers order the spiciest buckets or itâs someoneâs birthday, the siren will sound off with a megaphone announcement.
âItâs rambunctious, loud,â Guevara said. âYou come in here with a good attitude.â
The family-friendly environment also features several televisions with Pac-12 and NFL games. Customers are encouraged to write on the walls to help develop the sense of community.
Since Angry Crab is barely west of the Interstate 10 at 1365 W. Grant Rd., making a left turn into the parking lot can be tricky during rush hour. Head eastbound on Grant from Silverbell Road if you can so you can simply turn right into the lot instead.
Also, be aware that seating is first-come first-serve and that the other Angry Crab locations typically experience a 60-to-90-minute wait during peak hours, 4 â 8 p.m.
Angry Crab Shack is located at 1365 W. Grant Rd. Operating hours will be 11 a.m. â 10 p.m. Sunday â Thursday, 11 a.m. â 11 p.m. Friday â Saturday. For more information, call (520) 398-5004 or keep up with Angry Crab Tucson on Facebook.
