Eating on the Cheap: $4 2-for-1 Fish Taco Mondays at Mestizos

Eating on the Cheap: $4 2-for-1 Fish Taco Mondays at Mestizos

Feb 17, 20201 min read

February 24, 2020 update: Mestizos has since updated their menu prices and offerings. On Mondays, you can get two fish tacos for $4.

Are $2 fish tacos too good to be true? At Mestizos, no.

On Mondays, Mestizos offers glorious $4 fish tacos as a two-for-one special. As a believer in “you get what you pay for,” it’s difficult for me to fully appreciate this deal. I furl my eyebrows with each bite, trying to figure out what was sacrificed for the price.

Is it the size? No, these are fairly sized. Is it the quality? No, these nuggets of fish are crunchy and tender. The seasoning and salsa are great too.

As a result, you almost feel guilty. Are they even making money from this? I don’t know. Is this a good excuse for me to pile on my order with other food so that I’m not exploiting this lovely family-run business? Yes.

If you enjoy peanuts, make sure to order a cup of Agua de Mazapán. And order Flan for dessert while you’re at it; their version is one of the tastiest I’ve had.

Mestizos is located at 1118 W. St. Mary’s Rd. Keep up with Mestizos Restaurant on Facebook or follow Mestizos on Instagram.

Tucson’s barbecue options range from food trucks to full-service dining rooms. Some focus on classic Texas-style plates with butcher paper and simple sides. Others experiment with fusion dishes that blend barbecue with Mexican and Southwestern flavors. This variety gives diners plenty of options, whether they want a quick lunch or a sit-down meal.
