Food Truck Feature: Serial Grillers

Food Truck Feature: Serial Grillers

Sep 9, 20142 min read

Upon first glance, the Serial Grillers menu of burgers, cheesesteaks, and grilled cheese sandwiches – all named after fictitious and real-life serial killers – is a compilation of nightmares.

But fear not, foodie. For, the only anxiety you’ll face standing before the mustard yellow food truck is making a final decision.

While many newcomers opt for the more popular items such as:

  • Pennywise Chicken Cheesesteak (chicken, grilled onions, jalapeños, bacon, ranch dressing & cheddar cheese)
  • Psycho Ribeye Cheesesteak (ribeye, grilled onions, jalapeños, avocado, cilantro mayo, tomatoes & pepper jack cheese)
  • Leatherface Burger (grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes & cheddar cheese)

Repeat offenders – ahem, guests – know to inquire about Serial Grillers’ limited-run specialty burgers such as:

  • Chucky (Sriracha Ranch, jalapeño poppers, onion crunch, cheddar)
  • Joe Carroll (mayo, jalapeño, onion rings, bacon, habañero BBQ sauce, cheddar)
  • Trinity Killer (fried mac ‘n’ cheese, pancetta, mayo, cheddar).

Even if a specialty burger isn’t directly advertised, oftentimes the ingredients are on hand to whip one up.

Don’t forget to add a side of Sea Salt Seasoned Tater Tots, too. With sides priced as low as $2 and sandwiches ranging from $5-$8, it’s easy to splurge on multiple menu items. So, bring a friend (or two) and order that extra Boston Strangler Ribeye Cheesesteak with your Zodiac Burger.

While Serial Grillers began as a lone food truck, they now feature a brick and mortar location at 5737 E. Speedway. The standalone store isn’t the exact same menu as the truck, however many of the more popular items are available along with some killer pizza.

For a wickedly delicious and non-traditional dining experience with a flair for the macabre, go and face your fears at Serial Grillers.

Stop in for Flaming Chili Oil, Walnut Shrimp, chow fun, or sautéed green beans finished with Sichuan peppercorns. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

Customers can stop in between now and Saturday for one last meal. The team plans to sell down its inventory, though it hopes to have favorite dishes available. Regular hours remain 9am-3pm through the final day.

“Running this kitchen has been a labor of love, but the numbers just aren’t adding up anymore, and as parents, we have to make the hard choice to step back and take care of what matters most at home.”
