Union, Reforma Owners to Open “Pizzeria Corsa” at St. Philip’s Plaza

Union, Reforma Owners to Open “Pizzeria Corsa” at St. Philip’s Plaza

Apr 9, 20181 min read

Union Public House and Reforma Modern Mexican. Mezcal + Tequila co-owners Grant Krueger and Steve Stratigouleas announced plans to open Pizzeria Corsa at 4280 N. Campbell Ave. in St. Philip’s Plaza. The tentative opening is scheduled for mid-summer 2018.

The 2,700-square foot space was previously home to Sazerac Creole Kitchen & Cocktails, which closed in December 2017. Pizzeria Corsa will seat approximately 160.

Pizzeria Corsa’s menu fill feature artisanal pizza, bruschetta, pastas, panini, salads, and more. Every dough, sauce, soup, and mozzarella will be made in house.

“This is a big core value we have at our restaurants,” Krueger said, “making everything we can within reason from scratch in house. Having the farmers market in the plaza makes sourcing locally very easy for us.”

The word “corsa” is Italian for “race,” which ties in with the restaurant’s fast approachable food. Furthermore, 70s Italian racing will tie in with the aesthetic.

“It’s not just a new restaurant, it’s the whole plaza coming to life,” Stratigouleas said.

Since the three restaurants will share a liquor license and a center courtyard, customers will be able to bring their cocktails to the courtyard to watch live music.

“We want to add a live music element to the plaza that hasn’t existed for some time,” Stratigouleas said. The goal is to have live music multiple days a week, he added. Additionally, the space will be pet, biker, and family-friendly.

Operating hours will be 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily.

Pizzeria Corsa currently has no website or social media. Keep up with Union Public House on Facebook and Reforma Modern Mexican. Mezcal + Tequila on Facebook.

General manager Jacob Yeung credits one idea above all: “We’ve grown since then, but the key has always been consistency.”

Stop in for Flaming Chili Oil, Walnut Shrimp, chow fun, or sautéed green beans finished with Sichuan peppercorns. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.
