What to Eat at the Rockin’ 4 Heroes Festival & Charity Event

Oct 9, 20231 min read

There’s a free public concert coming to Oro Valley — an event that pays tribute to first responders, active duty military, veterans, and Gold Star families.

On Sunday, October 15, the annual Rockin’ 4 Heroes festival is taking place at James D. Kriegh Park, 23 W. Calle Concordia, from 2 – 6 p.m. Awesome music, excellent atmosphere, and tasty food and drinks are what you can expect at this year’s event.

Rockin’ 4 Heroes was founded in 2021 by Michael and Bonnie Quinn to honor the first responder community (paramedics, police, doctors, and nurses) for the care they provided to their late son PJ during his battle with cancer.

To pair with the live music and entertainment, there’s going to be at least nine food vendors dishing out the goods from 2 – 6 p.m.

Participating Food Vendors

  • B&G Chicago Dogs
  • Fork & Fire
  • Wild Bill’s Kettle Corn
  • Coffee Cure
  • Tucson Tamale
  • YumYum Pocha Korean Food
  • El Guajillo Catering
  • Jeremiah’s Ice Cream
  • Noble Hops

Rockin’ 4 Heroes is free to attend, but the organizers ask everyone to register because it helps them plan/ensure there is enough food, drinks, space, and services to accommodate.

You can also make a donation online if you can’t attend the charity event.

James D. Kriegh Park is located at 23 W. Calle Concordia. For more information and to register for your free spot at the show, visit rockin4heroes.org.

@Jundynasty has served Sichuan dishes on Grant Road for 13 years.🌶️

General manager Jacob Yeung credits one idea above all: “We’ve grown since then, but the key has always been consistency.”

Stop in for Flaming Chili Oil, Walnut Shrimp, chow fun, or sautéed green beans finished with Sichuan peppercorns. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

@Lovinspoonfulstucson is closing after more than 20 years in Tucson. Its final day of service runs on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Customers can stop in between now and Saturday for one last meal. The team plans to sell down its inventory, though it hopes to have favorite dishes available. Regular hours remain 9am-3pm through the final day.

“Running this kitchen has been a labor of love, but the numbers just aren’t adding up anymore, and as parents, we have to make the hard choice to step back and take care of what matters most at home.”
