After a few months of being temporarily closed, Tallboys has moved off the Avenue and into the patio of La Cocina, which is now known as LaCo Restaurant & Cantina.
Back in March, Jo Schneider and her two sons Eli and Ben made the decision to shut its doors to all of their family businesses, but now the new concept dubbed as LaCo — meaning “Love and Community” — is sharing the beautiful patio in downtown’s historic Presidio District.
With the new consolidation of both restaurants, Tallboys will still be cookin’ up most of the items that were found on the menu at their Fourth Avenue location.
Additionally, you’ll notice familiar faces walking around as much of the staff has returned, and so have the tall cans, which will still be available to enjoy, too. Plus, the size and space that the patio provides have opened up more room for a socially distanced brunch.
Now, you can enjoy the incredible flavors from Tallboys’ menu and soak up the warm atmosphere of the patio, which features aged mesquite trees, a stage for live music, and a peaceful pond that’s now got Teenage Brunchin’ Munchin’ Turtles.
Oh, and keep an eye out for the local cat that was born on the patio and decided to stick around. If you’re lucky, she’ll grace you with her presence from high above.
The new hours will be 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Thursday – Saturday, in which TallBoyss menu will be available from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., and then as a Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Reservations are also encouraged.
So, what’s going to happen to the spot on Fourth Avenue?
Pops Hot Chicken, which is currently nestled inside American Eat Co., is moving into the building early next year.
