Zivaz Mexican Bistro closes after 12 years in business

Jul 18, 20181 min read

Zivaz Mexican Bistro quietly closed its doors indefinitely without reason given.

A sign posted on the front door states:

“July 18, 2018

To the wonderful ZIVAZ FRIENDS and family.

It has been our pleasure serving the community for the past 12 and a half years. With hearts full of sadness, we announce the closing of Zivaz. We thank you for the support and memories you have given us, and we wish you all the best.

Thank you,

Felipe and Cecilia Valenzuela”

Zivaz could not be reached directly for comment. While their Facebook page has been active until recently, no statement has been posted about the closure.

The fast-casual Mexican restaurant at 4590 E. Broadway Blvd. opened in November 2005, serving an eclectic range of dish ranging from the obscure Caldo Tlalpeño to their signature Angus Beef Asada Burger.

Zivaz Mexican Bistro is located at 4590 E. Broadway Blvd. For more information, visit zivaz.com.

@Jundynasty has served Sichuan dishes on Grant Road for 13 years.🌶️

General manager Jacob Yeung credits one idea above all: “We’ve grown since then, but the key has always been consistency.”

Stop in for Flaming Chili Oil, Walnut Shrimp, chow fun, or sautéed green beans finished with Sichuan peppercorns. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

@Lovinspoonfulstucson is closing after more than 20 years in Tucson. Its final day of service runs on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Customers can stop in between now and Saturday for one last meal. The team plans to sell down its inventory, though it hopes to have favorite dishes available. Regular hours remain 9am-3pm through the final day.

“Running this kitchen has been a labor of love, but the numbers just aren’t adding up anymore, and as parents, we have to make the hard choice to step back and take care of what matters most at home.”
