If you’re one of those beer geeks eagerly awaiting new and fresh releases from local breweries, you won’t want to miss this one.
Gose (pronounced GOZE-uh), a refreshing, German, salty-sour ale, has been rising in popularity in craft brew circles for a little while now. Loved just as much as it’s, well, not loved, the historic German wheat beer isn’t as easy to find as some of the other more popular craft brew styles. In this Tucson heat, that’s a real bummer. But, there’s hope.
Craft brew scene newcomers Ermanos Craft Beer & Wine Bar, in collaboration with Borderlands Brewing, will release Gose Is The New Black, Friday, July 24.
Eric Erman, co-founder of Ermanos (the other co-founder is his brother, Mark Erman. Get it? Ermanos?), and the Borderlands crew, added 120 pounds of blackberry purĂ©e made in-house at Ermanos to add a new dimension to the German-style sour wheat ale’s salty personality.
Gose Is The New Black features a 4.2% ABV, and – along with the blackberry puree – sea salt, and coriander. Find it on tap at both Borderlands Brewing and Ermanos beginning July 24.
