If you’re American and eat breakfast, odds are you’ve eaten a Thomas’ bagel or English muffin.

In honor of their 135th Anniversary, Thomas’ is hosting the Hometown Breakfast Battle, a national competition featuring 135 chefs from 135 cities.

Chef Ryan Clark from Agustin Kitchen was tapped to represent Tucson by coming up with a locally-inspired recipe using Thomas’ products.

“My real inspiration for the dish was something easy for the home cook,” said Clark. “Something that feeds a lot of people at once. Also, if you dice up English muffins, the textures are perfect for blending into a frittata.”

Clark put together a recipe for the Southwestern Thomas’ Original English Muffin Frittata. The recipe, which serves eight, calls for one pound of pork chorizo, roasted green chiles and 12 eggs.

As for our neighbors to the north, Chef Justin Beckett of Beckett’s Table is representing Phoenix, while Chef Joshua Hebert of POSH Improvisational Cuisine Restaurant represents Scottsdale in the Hometown Breakfast Battle.

See the full recipe for the Southwestern Frittata and support Chef Ryan Clark by voting at ThomasBreakfastBattle.com. On September 27, the pool narrows from 135 to the top 16. Clark currently holds the #12 spot.
