It’s almost time to kick off summer, and that means one thing: barbecue season. On Saturday, May 21, Red’s Smokehouse + Tap Room will host T-U-C Summer BBQ Bash from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m at their location, 943 E. University Blvd.

Red’s Smokehouse is “welcoming locals down to University Blvd. during the summer to let them know that Tucson doesn’t die in the summertime.”

The event features local businesses Dragoon Brewing Company, Whiskey Del Bac of Hamilton Distillers, E&R Pork, The Underestimated City, and On The Menu Live.

A whole hog plate special featuring locally raised pigs by E&R Pork will be served with macaroni salad, baked beans, country bread, and watermelon salad.

A single plate is priced at $15, or All-You-Can-Eat is $22.

Guests can also enjoy a selection of three Whiskey Del Bac summer cocktails, including the following:

• Del Bac Dorado: “El Diablo Dorado” – Sweet Vermouth, Bauchant orange liqueur, lemon and grenadine, habanero hot sauce, $9
• Del Bac Clear Smoked Whiskey: “Green Smoke” – Blanc Vermouth, fresh lime and orange juice, cilantro, and ginger beer, $7
• Del Bac Classic: “Hometown Whiskey” – Smoked honey, slow and low, and local bitters, $8

Dragoon Brewing Company will offer specials on all beers, and Red’s Smokehouse will feature a homemade dragoon barbecue sauce.

The Underestimated City will have event shirts available for purchase and a pop-up truck with items from their clothing line.

If you can’t make it to the barbecue bash, On The Menu…Live! with Matt Russell will broadcast the event live on radio station 104.1 FM KQTH from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

And of course, Tucson Foodie will be there, too.

Parking for the event is available in the lot northeast of Red’s next to University Marriott. Guests can also park at the Tyndall Avenue Garage and receive free validation.
