In partnership with the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona and the Weintraub Israel Center, Vero Amore will host Tucson’s first Israeli Celebrity Chef Dinner Sunday, May 15.

In celebration of Israel week, the dinner will welcome four of Israel’s famous chefs, including:

  • Chef Orli Varon Shushan — Pastry chef and director of the bakery “La Nogatin”
  • Chef Maya Klein — Senior chef of Herod’s Eilat Hotel and first place winner of Israeli reality show, Chef Game
  • Chef Yael Shamir — Head chef of restaurants in Kiryat Tiv’on and Eilat and also owned CafĂ© Confectionery in Spain
  • Chef Sahar Refael — Author of two cookbooks, chef of three restaurants, winner of The Knife Fight competition and The Kitchen reality show

Israeli Celebrity Chef Dinner Menu

First Course 

  • Frena Moroccan bread with specialty dips
  • Fresh salad
  • Flame-roasted eggplant

Second Course

  • Mediterranean sea pitas — fish meatballs, jalapeño paste, sumac yogurt
  • Citrus and ginger granita

Third Course (includes one dish)

  • Middle Eastern fish fillet with Mediterranean pappardelle
  • Sea fish fillets on cauliflower puree with porcini cream and onion shells stuffed with mushroom polenta and parmesan
  • Vegetarian Option — Moroccan couscous with vegetables

Four Course 

  • Le Rose — Dokaz almond based with white praline, strawberry yogurt cream, and an edible flower
  • Chocolate Volcano — two layers of dark chocolate fudge with sonty milk chocolate on vanilla crumble lemon base and fresh strawberries

After dinner, the chefs will speak with guests. Cookbooks will be available for purchase and signing.

The event takes place at Vero Amore at 2920 N. Swan Road from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with seatings every fifteen minutes.

The dinner is priced at $75 per person. Kosher meals are available upon request.

On Tuesday, May 10, interested guests can also attend an Israeli pastry workshop. Contact Weintraub Israel Center director Shlicha Oshrat Barel at 520-577-9393 for details. The chefs will also attend a separate event at Tucson’s Jewish Community Center on Thursday, May 12.
