Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance and Monark Premium Appliances are partnering to host a bi-monthly Great Chefs Series. The first event will take place at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13.

Each event in the series will feature up to five different chefs from Southern Arizona. Guests will have the chance to view cooking demonstrations and sample beverage tastings and menu items from the featured chefs.

In the September edition of the Great Chefs Series, guests will experience the art of food.

“From locally sourced food and libations, and culturally diverse showcases from around the world, or the absolute art of food, this series will allow you a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the food, from the chefs’ perspective.”

The following chefs will be present at the event:

  • Chef Jeremy Imes of Splendido
  • Chef Wendy Gauthier of Chef Chic
  • Chef Alan Sanchez of Table of Elementz
  • Chef Mario Ferrari of Noble Hops

Elvira’s, PRP Wine, Iron John’s Brewing Company, Aridus Wine Company, and Cambria Wine will also be present at the event.

For a sneak peek of the event, guests can expect Chef Mario of Noble Hops to fully interact with the crowd.

“The guests that I pick from the crowd will have a chance to create their own art on the plate,” he said. “I want to show the art of food in us all.”

Chef Mario is planning to use edible flowers, sauces, foams, and “dust.” His dishes will feature scallops, risotto, sunburst squash, and other vegetables.

Chef Wendy of Chef Chic will also be present at the event. She plans to prepare seared steak atop a carrot and parsnip puree with purple fingerling potatoes. She’s still working on her menu for the night, so guests can look forward to other additions as well.

The event will also feature live acoustic music and raffle tickets, and all guests will receive a Monark Premium Appliances gift bag.

Tickets are priced at $25 per person. Proceeds for the event will benefit SAACA’s Arts Education and Therapeutic Arts Programs.

The next Great Chefs event will take place on Thursday, November 10.
