Slow Food of Southern Arizona, an organization created to ensure the preservation of local cuisine, has partnered with the Tucson Botanical Gardens for a Frida Kahlo-inspired dinner.
Through May 2017, the Botanical Gardens is showcasing a brand new Frida Kahlo Exhibit, which features Kahlo’s artwork through the “lens of the plants and nature in her paintings and her personal gardens.”
Tucson Botanical Gardens was the only institution chosen to receive the exhibit, which was designed by the New York Botanical Garden.
In celebration of the new exhibit, Slow Food and the Botanical Gardens will host a family-style Frida Kahlo-inspired dinner. Prepared by Chef Kristine Jenesen, the dinner will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 10.
Tickets are priced at $35, or $30 for members of the Botanical Gardens. Tickets include food, wine, and free admission to the gardens.
Guests are welcome to arrive at 5 p.m., an hour before dinner, for a self-guided tour of the gardens and see the new exhibit. The gardens will stay open after dinner, too.
