Summer is the perfect time to visit Ski Valley atop Mount Lemmon — not to ski, but to eat a personal pie with a cool mountain breeze at the Iron Door Restaurant.

Surrounded by flowers and hummingbird feeders near the mountain peak, you’ll channel your inner Disney Princess on the patio.

For dessert, don’t miss out on the Homemade Individual Pie. While personal pies aren’t a new concept — think Pizza Hut’s BOOK IT! program from elementary school — they’re no less indulgent.

Rather than eating a slice from a cold pie, the individual pie comes out warm from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The warm pie and cold ice cream provide different layers of melt-in-your-mouth sensations to leave you satisfied.

Though there are many flavors available, the standout is the Mtn. Berry, which was inspired by the wild berries that used to grow in the area.

For more information, visit skithelemmon.com. Keep up with Iron Door Restaurant and Ski Valley on Facebook. And don’t miss this past roundup of Mt. Lemmon eats.
