Oh, how far we’ve come from the days of instant ramen packets.
If you haven’t noticed, ramen is all the rage these days. But you wouldn’t be blamed for a lack of sophistication if you didn’t realize the labor that goes into perfecting the broth. It’s hours upon hours of simmering bones to extract every last bit of flavor. It’s this reason why some places only offer ramen on select days of the week. And it’s this same reason that ramen tends to hover in the $12 and up range per bowl.
On Tucson’s west side, in the Albertson’s shopping center at Speedway and Silverbell, you’ll find Maru Japanese Noodle Shop. Sister restaurant to midtown Yoshimatsu Japanese Eatery, Maru opened in March 2019.
With an aesthetic that might fit in better on the busy urban streets of Japan or New York City, Maru is a welcome breath of fresh air to an otherwise stale street corner strip mall. And while you’ll most likely want to make it in visit after visit for the variety of menu items to try, you’ll definitely want to make it in sooner than later to take advantage of Maru’s $9 ramen bowl offer going on now through the rest of summer.
The deal includes all ramen bowls, except for the Pork Katsu Curry and Shrimp Salad Soba. For those bowls, you’ll simply get $1 off the regular price. In fact, it’s $1 off every noodle and rice bowl on the menu at Maru. This includes the udon bowls, too.
To claim the deal, simply mention the $9 ramen you saw on Tucson Foodie. Bonus points for a Facebook or Instagram post. (And if you’re going to post, might as well tag Maru and Tucson Foodie while you’re at it.)
Now, this deal is a ramen deal first and foremost, but Maru is offering $1 off all bowls, as well. This includes the 8 udon noodle bowls and five cold summer noodle bowls. Details are as follows:
Lastly, if you had caught wind of Maru’s deal for two, it’s still available. Simply mention it when you order.
