Straight out of Palo Alto, California, Mountain Mike’s Pizza has finally journeyed down far enough to set up its very first Tucson location at 4362 N. Oracle Rd #112.
“We are super excited to be part of the Tucson restaurant community,” said Phillip Dade, co-owner Mountain Mike’s Pizza. “I have lived here for six years, so it’s great to finally have a spot here in my backyard. This is our third store in Arizona, others are in Mesa and Chandler), and we have our fourth restaurant opening next year at Grant and Tanque Verde.”
Chances are you’ve already eaten at one of these restaurants. Mountain Mike’s opened its first restaurant in 1978 and has blossomed to more than 250 locations. Oh, and it’s known to be the “Home of the Legendary Crispy, Curly Pepperoni.”
The pizzas come in sizes as small as a “Mini” — a six-inch personal pie — and stretching as big as a 20-inch pizza known as the “Mountain.” From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., they’ll be serving up lunch salad and pizza buffet for $10 a person.
“Our company is developing stores throughout Arizona, so having multiple Tucson locations has always been part of that roadmap,” said Dade. “We will be a great addition to the dining scene, offering an awesome venue to dine in and grab a pizza, watch sports with audio, enjoy our 12 draft beers, and extensive wine selection.”
While Mountain Mike’s is based out of California, the pizza joint digs into local culture and focuses on hosting several fundraising programs.
Remember those old commercials from the ’90s when a little league baseball team would head to Pizza Hut and celebrate their win or loss? Mountain Mike’s is sort of like that because the funds the company raises go toward youth sports like soccer, baseball, and basketball, along with local schools, academic clubs, and non-profit organizations.
“Mountain Mikes is on the Groupraise platform, where we will donate 25% of sales to local organizations when they organize fundraising events or days,” said Dade. “Additionally, we make our dough fresh every day, so at the end of the day, we have leftover dough that we will make into pizzas to donate to local charities that are looking for fresh food donations.”
To celebrate the restaurant’s grand opening, they’ll be offering a dine-in special that includes a bottle of Belle Glos Pinot Noir and a large pizza of your choice for $49.95.
“Belle Glos is $45 a bottle so it’s a great deal,” Dade added.
