The popular hot chicken stand from Los Angeles, California has been spreading its wings all over the U.S. since Eater LA shared its experience online. Like many Tucson food trucks and carts, the food stand grew into a brick-and-mortar and has been opening in multiple states since 2017.

Now it’s Tucson’s turn. On Friday, February 17, Dave’s Hot Chicken is officially opening its doors at 5615 E. Broadway Blvd.

Perhaps you’ve driven down Broadway recently and caught a glimpse of the brightly-colored building between Craycroft Road and the Park Place Mall. Their hours of operation will be 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.Sunday – Thursday and 11 a.m. – midnight on Friday – Saturday.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is known for its Hot Chicken Sliders and Tenders, which are served in seven spices that range in intensity levels. Folks can choose from No Spice to Reaper, which requires a signed waiver.

Menu items also come paired with their classic sides like mac n’ cheese, fries, kale-slaw, and other small bites.

The Spicy Story

It all started with four friends who gathered up $900 to set up a small stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. They had a simple menu and debuted their spicy chicken tenders. One of the owners created some buzz on Instagram which led to Eater paying a visit and pumping out an article the following day.

Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block.

Now, the hot chicken delights are in Tucson and they have some tasty competition along Broadway where several other local restaurants are dishin’ out the goods.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is located at 5615 E. Broadway Blvd. For more information, visit daveshotchicken.com or follow Dave’s Hot Chicken on Instagram.
