When the munchies strike, there are several ways to put your cravings to rest. Yet, in the midst of the chaos, tacos often emerge as my savior. Tacos not only satisfy your cravings but elevate your senses, reminding you that in the battle against the munchies, there’s no greater ally than the humble taco.

Okay, enough of the theatrics.

Taqueria Pico de Gallo is the perfect spot for tacos and just recently they announced a $1.25 Happy Hour deal from 5 – 6 p.m. daily (it’s only available for one hour, too, so don’t hesitate).

This little taco paradise was opened in 1991 and has been a hot spot for authentic Sonoran fare ever since. Tacos are served either on crispy flour or thick and hearty corn tortillas made in-house.

The Chicken and Carne Asada Tacos are adorned with a modest blend of finely chopped cabbage and pico de gallo, accentuating the natural flavors of the meat. Each piece of chicken and carne asada is delicately seared to perfection on the grill, resulting in a crispy exterior that envelops tender and succulent meat within.

While flour tortillas are commonly associated with these fillings, corn tortillas serve as an equally suitable alternative, adept at absorbing the savory juices and offering a robust base for the tacos.

In December 2022, someone driving a car demolished the side of the restaurant, leaving it no other option but to temporarily close. In October 2023, the team welcomed everyone back into the dining room — the legacy lives on.

Taqueria Pico de Gallo is located at 2618 S. Sixth Ave. For more information, follow the restaurant on Instagram.
