A new bar area, VIP section, bottle service, extra bathrooms, additional parking, and two food trucks (a Mexican food truck and an Asian fusion food truck) will all be coming to The Nugget’s 2617 N. First Ave. location.

Renovations should be completed by 2025. Perhaps one of the main highlights is the VIP section that’ll be available to reserve ahead of time.

“People had demand for buying tables and bottle service, so we felt there was a need to expand,” said Doron Gabay, owner of The Nugget. Originally known as The Golden Nugget, the bar opened its doors back in 1969. Then, during COVID, Gabay took over the bar and has been overseeing operations ever since.

The addition of another bar should also help patrons get drinks faster. Gabay said it should be easier to get drinks and the flow of the bar should be improved.

These most recent renovations are just a part of a much larger plan to modernize the bar. Gabay wants to include something for everyone who walks into the bar — not just one kind of music, food, or event. Gabay wants The Nugget to be a diverse experience.

“I enjoy that diversity,” Gabay added. “I think it is a great thing, especially for me as an immigrant. I like to see different people from different backgrounds. I think that is the backbone of The Nugget.”

The Nugget has daily specials, too. Some of those specials include but are not limited to their Monday beer pong tournaments, tacos, Tequila Tuesdays (discounted tequila shots and buy-two-get-one-free taco deals), and two nights of karaoke.
