Although the sandwich is one of the most humble dishes, it is easy to tell when a sandwich is made with love. At Quisty’s, the sandwiches drown in love.
A sealed gas station sandwich? Despair and agony. You’d think a machine-made sandwich should be made consistently well, but no. They just taste like dry pucks of neglect. But you can taste the savings.
At Quisty’s Sandwiches, the impressions start out strong. The space is bright, clean, and busy. Service is friendly and helpful. And when you unwrap your sandwich, you can imagine the cook smiling and nodding their head in approval before wrapping it.
The menu features a variety of cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches with grilled fillings, and panini where the sandwich itself is grilled. Upon just grabbing the sandwich, you feel the delicateness of fresh local bread. With how busy the sandwich shop is, the high ingredient turnover ensures you don’t end up with a bite of stale bread. Choose from ciabatta or soft baguette; from Friday through Sunday, focaccia from Holy Focaccia is also available.
Today, we’ll focus on just one sandwich: the Hammer. Listed first on the menu, it features a combination of ham, spicy sopressata, pepper Jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, and their house-made garlic spread. The freshness of the ingredients and meticulous care shines through, but that savory garlic spread adds that extra je ne sais quoi that helps separate them from other nice sandwich shops.
Another plus: they are conveniently a few steps away from The Broadway. Bring your sandwich over there if you want a beer pairing, like the Pueblo Vida Sonoran-style cerveza.
Quisty’s Sandwiches is located at 2575 E. Broadway Blvd. For more information, visit quistyssandwiches.com and follow Quisty’s on Instagram.
