Eating on the Cheap: 10+ Pizza slice & drink combos for $10 or less

Dec 9, 20225 min read

Sometimes you’re not hungry enough to eat an entire pizza and, to be honest, nuking it in your microwave turns it into an edible frisbee. A lot of us have been there, done that.

Luckily, there are plenty of places in Tucson that offer pizza by the slice. To make it even better, they offer a combo deal of some sort that’s less than $10. Here’s a roundup of a few spots in town that serve such a deal, and some of these aren’t a combo at all — they’re simply a slice of pizza and a cheaply-priced drink.

Arizona Pizza Company

4955 N. Sabino Canyon Rd.

You can get a large slice of cheese pizza and a fountain drink for $8 (additional toppings are $1 each).  This deal is valid for takeout and dine-in. This same exact deal can be found at Upper Crust Pizza at 1909 E. Grant Rd.

For more information, visit azpizzacompany.com.

Brooklyn Pizza Company

534 N. Fourth Ave.

If you’re walking around Fourth Avenue between the hours of 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., stop by Brooklyn Pizza for a slice of cheese pizza and a fountain drink for $5.41. This deal is valid daily between those hours.

For more information, visit brooklynpizzacompany.com

Empire Pizza

137 E. Congress St.

The downtown spot doesn’t have a specific deal but it’s easy to pair a slice of pizza with any of the sodas and select beers on tap (a combo that’s $10 or less). A slice of cheese pizza is $4, a pepperoni slice is $4.50, and their “display slice” is $5.50.

For more information, visit empire.pizza.

Fiamme Pizza

4706 E. Sunrise Dr.

The wood-fired Neapolitan pizza spot in the foothills offers multiple pizzas by the slice that won’t empty your wallet. Their slices range from $4.50 to $5.25 each, depending on what you’d like on top. On Tuesday, they’ve got a “two for Tuesdays” deal — two slices of pizza and a drink for $8.

For more information, visit fiammepizzatucson.com

Frog & Firkin

874 E. University Blvd.

Weave your way through the party crowd and you’ll find that they’ve got pizza by the slice for $6.50 each. There isn’t a specific combo deal but a fountain drink will keep it under $10. Plus, if you’re super hungry and have some deep pockets, they’ve got giant slices for $11.75 each.

For more information, visit frogandfirkin.com

Mario’s Pizza

3157 N. First Ave.

This midtown pizza joint has been around for years and it’s likely you’ve seen the iconic sign near Fort Lowell and First Avenue. It’s a quick and easy spot to grab a slice of cheese pizza for $2.99. Pair it with a soda for less than $10.

For more information, visit mariospizzatucsonmenu.com

No Anchovies

870 E. University Blvd.

Grab yourself a fountain drink or cheap beer and then pick up a slice of cheese pizza or one-topping slice for $4.25. If you’re feeling fancy, they’ve got specialty slices for $5.25 each.

Piezano’s Rustic Pizza & Wine

2921 E. Fort Lowell Rd.

Chances are you’ve seen this pizza joint while stumbling out of Danny’s Baboquivari. Well, head into the restaurant earlier in the day and they’ve got a lunch special on pizza slices. From noon – 4 p.m., build your own pizza slice starting at $3.99 (each additional topping is $0.65 each). Or you can get the $10 special, which is a slice of pizza with two toppings, a drink, and a side salad.

For more information, follow PieZano’s on Instagram

Squared Up Pizza

5870 E. Broadway Blvd.

Did you know this pot has a special filter that replicates the water used in New York City? They’ve also got cheap slices of pizza (both square and triangular). Square slices are around $6 each and triangle slices from a round pizza are about $5 depending on what you’d like on top. Pair these slices with a soda and you’re in good company.

For more information, visit squareduptucson.com

Time Market

444 E. University Blvd.

In addition to all of the great sandwiches, wine selection, and groceries, Time Market has $4 slices of cheese pizza and $4.50 slices of pepperoni pizza. Pair it with several beverage options are you’re walkin’ outta there without spending more than $10.

Transplant Pizza

4603 E. Speedway Blvd.

From 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. every Monday – Friday, you can get a Detroit-style slice of cheese pizza for $2.50 or a double pepperoni slice for $3.50. Fountain drinks are $2.95 and there are quite a few craft beer options on the bar side of the restaurant you can pair a slice with — making it a combo for $10 or less.

However, if you’ve got a couple of extra bucks to spend, $12 will get you a Detroit-style slice of pizza, a small salad, and a fountain drink.

For more information, visit transplantpizza.com

Upper Crust Pizza

1909 E. Grant Rd.

Perhaps you’ve seen this deal plastered on a sandwich board on the corner of Grant and Campbell. You can get a large slice of cheese pizza and a fountain drink for $8 (additional toppings are $1 each).  This deal is valid for takeout and dine-in.

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
