At the end of the month (December 2023), The Pit will be closing its 22nd Street location on the corner of Pantano Road. Come Monday, January 1, the owner of the property will lease the land to a gas station franchise, and construction will begin the first week of 2024.
The Pit’s owners, Amber Donahue and Chris Frisch, shared that “this was not the desired outcome for the resident food trucks and the neighborhood it serves,” but they’re already in the process of building the new, long-term location at 3333 E. Grant Rd.
Introducing “Truck to Table”
The new location, which is being rebranded as Truck to Table, is located on nearly three acres of land (including a 2,600-square-foot building) right next door to Robert’s Restaurant on Grant Road. The new spot will be big enough to house up to 12 food trucks, have a full bar, have indoor dining space, provide games, and host events.
“Having to leave our east side home is going to be an adjustment but the new centrally located food truck park will offer more amenities to both food trucks and patrons,” said Donahue and Frisch. “Truck To Table will be a flagship establishment, utilizing the new UDC code adopted in November by the City of Tucson.”
The good thing about the new rules from the City of Tucson is that it revises sections of the city’s development code to allow more “congregate food truck courts.” This means it oughta be slightly easier for new food truck gatherings to be developed around Tucson.

The Grand Opening is expected to be in the spring of 2024 and many of the current food trucks will be rejoining as well as some new trucks.
