Tucson Visitor's Guide for Sonoran Restaurant Week 2026

Sep 1, 20264 min read

Sonoran Restaurant Week runs from September 4 through 13, 2026, and it's the perfect excuse to pair a day of Tucson sightseeing with a prix fixe meal. Since the Old Pueblo packs desert trails, historic missions, art districts, and a UNESCO City of Gastronomy designation into one metro area, visitors can easily build a full day around any interest and land near a Restaurant Week stop when it's time to eat.

Below are six itineraries built around Tucson's core attractions, each paired with nearby restaurants participating in this year's event. Menus and prices are subject to change, so it's worth confirming details on the Sonoran Restaurant Week website before heading out.

1. Desert and outdoors day

Tucson sits in the middle of the Sonoran Desert, and a morning spent outdoors shows why. Start at Saguaro National Park to walk among the towering cacti the region is known for, then head to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum for a closer look at the plants and animals that call the desert home. Cap the morning with a scenic drive up Gates Pass for wide views of the Tucson Mountains.

Restaurant Week stop: Head into midtown afterward for lunch at Feast, known for its seasonal, chef-driven menu, or continue toward the foothills for Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon, which has already posted a $55 dinner menu for this year's event.

2. History and culture day

Tucson's history stretches back centuries, and the city's missions and museums tell that story well. Visit Mission San Xavier del Bac, an active parish and one of the best-preserved examples of Spanish colonial architecture in the country. From there, explore the Presidio San Agustín del Tucson Museum downtown to learn about the city's founding, then walk through the Barrio Viejo neighborhood to see its adobe row houses.

Restaurant Week stop: Downtown offers several options within walking distance, including CORBETT'S, Penca, and BOCA by Chef Maria Mazon. Charro Steak & Del Rey, rooted in a family that's operated in Tucson since 1922, also fits the historical theme well. Coronet is conveniently located in the heart of Barrio Viejo.

3. Arts and entertainment day

Fourth Avenue and downtown Tucson form the heart of the city's arts scene. Browse the galleries and murals along Fourth Avenue, catch a show at the historic Fox Tucson Theatre, and stop by the Tucson Museum of Art for rotating exhibitions of Latin American and Western art. Live music venues and small theaters fill out the district after dark.

Restaurant Week stop: NEX, on Fourth Avenue, offers a $45 three-course prix fixe menu for lunch and dinner during Restaurant Week. For dessert or a coffee break between galleries, 1989 Bake House sits nearby with $15 and $25 menus built around pastries and espresso drinks.

4. Family day

Tucson has plenty for younger visitors. The Pima Air & Space Museum lets kids climb through historic aircraft, Reid Park Zoo offers a manageable, walkable layout with animals from six continents, and the Children's Museum Tucson keeps hands-on exhibits geared toward younger kids. All three sit within a short drive of each other on the east and central sides of town.

Restaurant Week stop: Buendia Breakfast and Lunch Café offers family-friendly settings for a Restaurant Week brunch before a day of exploring.

5. Foothills and wellness day

For a slower pace, the foothills area combines scenic hiking with resort-style relaxation. Hike a section of the Catalina Highway toward Mount Lemmon for cooler temperatures and pine forest views, then unwind with a spa treatment at one of the foothills resorts. Sabino Canyon, with its tram tours and streamside trails, also makes a strong addition to this day.

Restaurant Week stop: The foothills carry several 2026 participants, including Contigo Latin Kitchen, Fiamme Pizza Napoletana, Reforma Modern Mexican, and Wild Garlic Grill. Flying V, mentioned above, also works well for a foothills evening.

6. University and downtown nightlife day

The University of Arizona campus anchors this itinerary. Walk the tree-lined mall, visit the Arizona State Museum for its Southwest anthropology collections, and stop by the UA Museum of Art. As evening sets in, head toward downtown's Congress Street corridor for its bars, live music, and late-night energy.

Restaurant Week stop: Downtown restaurants such as Ursa, La Chingada Cocina Mexicana, CRUDA Mariscos & Oyster Bar, and Reilly Craft Pizza and Drink sit within walking distance of Congress Street, making the transition from campus to nightlife an easy one.

Plan ahead

Sonoran Restaurant Week restaurants offer prix fixe menus at $15, $25, $35, $45, or $55 per person, and each price point runs at least 20% below regular menu pricing. Tax, tip, and drinks come extra. Since new restaurants and finalized menus continue to post throughout the summer, check the full participant list before finalizing plans, and make reservations early for the most popular stops.
