The Arizona Board of Regents and the University of Arizona are looking for a qualified “Name Brand” burger eatery for the food court inside the Student Union Memorial Center.

“The Arizona Student Unions provide students with services to help them feel ‘at home’ on campus and opportunities that create an exceptional experience beyond the classroom.”

The university is accepting national and local restaurants.

As a current UA student, I can tell you that we are definitely in need of a new or local burger spot in the Student Union. One can only eat Burger King so many times.

Possibly the biggest stipulation for the chosen restaurant is the acceptance of CatCards for payment.

In addition to regular payment types, Arizona Student Unions requires each restaurant in the union to accept student CatCards, which offer computerized, pre-paid meal plans for students.

The restaurant will also be required to offer a beverage fountain with Coca-Cola products.

UA will choose a vendor based on the “best interests of the University,” and will factor in financial, management, and marketing plans. And of course, UA will consider the menu quality, including taste, flavor, variety, presentation, and pricing.

Restaurants interested in the spot, or potentially spots, must apply by Tuesday, October 18, but a pre-proposal is due by Wednesday, September 28.

Whose burger would you like to see on campus? Let us know in the comments.
