Bottega Michelangelo: Your New Favorite Weekday Lunch

May 22, 2018
By Tucson Foodie

There are two types of lunch-eating folk in this world: those that want quick and cheap, and those that want to savor the experience.

But there’s also a third type: those that are searching for both.

North Oracle Road offers no shortage of dining options, but Bottega Michelangelo – the new and improved Michelangelo Ristorante Italiano – is in a class of its own. (Check out our recent article on the major changes that went down at Bottega Michelangelo.)

A reimagined menu, stylish and casual interior, and updated name have helped convert what was once a special occasion type of restaurant into a place that’s great for a small plate and glass of wine at the bar, dinner with the family, and of course, a classy yet approachable lunch spot.

For starters, you can, in fact, dine here on the cheap. Five different dishes ring in at $8 or less, seven are between $8 and $10, and countless others (more than 10) are $12 or less. And it’s a well-varied selection of dishes, with sandwiches and burgers like the Giardino (eggplant, fried hot peppers, oven dried tomatoes, provolone), Porchetta (rapini, housemade giardiniera, garlic aioli), and Calabrese Burger (grilled soppressata, calabrian chili jam, goat cheese, arugula).

There’s also a handful of pizza, pasta, and salad options, such as the Margherita (san marzano sauce, burrata, fresh basil, evoo), the Basilica (pesto sauce, fresh mozzarella, roma tomatoes, grano padano), the Italian Cobb salad, Caesar, and Spaghettini Pomodoro. And this is just a small selection of the entire menu.

Food aside, the space oozes sophisticated class, without being pretentious. The updated modern aesthetic features lots of wood mixed with ornate tile, tasteful lighting, and comfy booths.

For meetings requiring a little more privacy, they’ve also got you covered with a private dining room space that seats up to 20.

If you’re looking for a new lunch spot that might just become a new favorite, give Bottega Michelangelo a try.

(And if you can’t make it for lunch, they recently launched brunch, too, which happens on Sundays from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.)

Bottega Michelangelo is located at 420 W. Magee Rd., just west of Oracle Rd. For more information, including hours and full menu, please visit bottegamichelangelo.com.
