The burger chain permanently closed its doors Wednesday afternoon.

Burger chain Fuddruckers closed its Tucson location at 6118 E. Speedway Blvd. Wednesday afternoon.

Signs posted on the entrance stated the following:

Thank you Tucson
For your Support
For many Years
We will be
Closing permanently
On August 8, 2018
At 3 PM

The street marquee simply states, “WE R CLOSED.”

Fuddruckers Tucson on Facebook listed itself as “permanently closed” under its operating hours, but no other mention of the closure is mentioned. The Fuddruckers website no longer lists the Tucson location. Staff could not be reached for comment.

Tucson Weekly’s Best of Tucson featured Fuddruckers as the Readers’ Pick Best Burger from 1999 through 2006.

We had trouble obtaining the exact opening date of this location, but the oldest records we found indicated this location was open in the mid-to-late eighties.

The first Fuddruckers location opened in San Antonio, Texas in 1979. The chain developed a reputation for its house-baked buns and burger topping bar.
