Serial Grillers owners and brothers Travis and William Miller sure aren’t resting on their laurels.
The team announced their purchase of taco shop Papa Locos Tacos & Burgers at 7940 E. Broadway Blvd. The taco shop will reopen as Toro Loco Tacos Y Burros mid-to-late July.
“We wanted to open a taco shop as a way to continue growing our business here in the Tucson market without having to expand to Phoenix or California,” said Serial Grillers founder and owner Travis Miller. “I think there is a lot of growth potential for concepts like Los Betos or Nicos.”
Toro Loco will feature meats, including carne asada, chicken, carnitas, barbacoa, and shrimp.
It will also feature a variety of California burritos, including a Classic with carne asada, french fries, pico de gallo, Mexican crema, and cheese, as well as a Steak & Shrimp option, Poblano Chicken, and Crispy Cheese.
Additionally, Toro Loco will offer elote-inspired off-the-cob Mexican street corn.
Former Blanco sous chef Jay Spearing is leading the Toro Loco kitchen. Spearing worked at Janos during its La Paloma days, followed by DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails and Hacienda Del Sol.
The restaurant, which currently seats 40, will offer fast-casual service and higher quality ingredients than what is typically available at most taco shops. Alcohol will not be available upon opening but might be added if the need arises.
