‘Endless Summer Happy Hour’ Cocktail Competition With Ben’s Bells

Ben’s Bells — the local team that aims to spread cheer all around Tucson — is hosting an Endless Summer Happy Hour at HighWire Tucson.

The competition is happening from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 12 at 14 S. Arizona Ave.

Local celebrities, including Shane Reiser (Head Foodie here at Tucson Foodie), Dan Marries (News Anchor at KOLD), and Chris Edwards (owner of Tucson Appliance), will be making their very own cocktail creations alongside a team of mixologists.

Cocktail Menu

  • Shane Reiser: Sonoran Negroni – Gin, prickly pear liqueur (replacing Campari), sweet vermouth, and garnishes with a twist of orange peel and a small cactus paddle
  • Dan Marries: Dan’s Mango Mexican Candy – Grey Goose Mango Vodka, lemonade, chamoy, in-house strawberry puree, lemon juice, rimmed with chamoy, TajĂ­n, lemon garnish, and Dirty T Tamarindo Mangolitos
  • Chris Edwards: Chris’s Passion Peach Punch – Peach puree, mango peach juice, grey goose strawberry lemongrass vodka, pineapple orange juice, simple syrup, and topped with peach rings

Whoever receives the most tips wins the event! All of the tips earned throughout the Endless Summer Happy Hour will be donated directly to Ben’s Bells.

Tickets to the event are $30 per person.

Your ticket includes your first drink and any additional drinks will be available for purchase.

There are lots of options for downtown parking. Across Congress Street from HighWire is the underground Depot Plaza Garage. After 5 p.m., street parking is free and there are spaces a block south at Armory Park.

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
