Tucson food lovers can travel across Mexico in a single evening this August. America's Best Mexican Food Festival returns to the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026. More than 30 chefs, mixologists, and cultural artisans will fill the resort's banquet rooms and foyer spaces for the largest indoor Mexican food and culture festival in Arizona.
Organizers designed the evening as a journey through four distinct culinary regions of Mexico. Guests will move from the ranchlands of Northern Mexico to the coastal flavors of the Yucatán Peninsula. Each stop features tastings, live music, art installations, and storytelling tied to that region's traditions.
A Four-Region Culinary Journey
The festival divides Mexico's culinary landscape into four sections. Northern Mexico kicks off the evening with mesquite-grilled meats, handmade flour tortillas, and rustic ranch-style dishes inspired by Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Nuevo León.
Central Mexico follows with dishes inspired by Mexico City, Puebla, and Guanajuato. Expect heritage moles, handmade tamales, and traditional guisados that showcase centuries of Indigenous and Spanish influence.
The Pacific Coast region brings lighter, brighter flavors from Baja California, Sinaloa, and Oaxaca's coastal communities. Guests can sample fresh ceviches, seafood tostadas, and aguachiles bursting with citrus and chile.
Finally, Southern Mexico and the Yucatán Peninsula close the night. This region draws on ancient Mayan influence, featuring slow-roasted cochinita pibil and achiote-marinated specialties.
