As 4/20 approaches, The Prime Leaf Dispensary is once again blending cannabis culture with local artistry through the return of its annual artist collaboration. This initiative continues to highlight the creative spirit rooted here in Tucson.

For the second year in a row, the dispensary has partnered with Tucson-based artist Michael Montoya, co-founder of Sparrows & Sombreros, to create a limited-edition 4/20 commemorative shirt. Following the success of last year’s “420 in the 520” saguaro-themed shirt, Montoya returns with a fresh design featuring a Gambel’s quail- an iconic symbol of the Southwest- rendered in his signature woodcut style. The artwork is printed on a cream and crimson raglan tee and anchors this year’s campaign theme: Peace, Love & Prime.

For The Prime Leaf, the collaboration goes beyond aesthetics. It reflects a deeper commitment to Tucson’s identity and the people who shape it.

“For us, 4/20 has always been about more than a sale,” said Leah Rhey of The Prime Leaf. “It is a chance to bring people together and celebrate what makes Tucson special. His art speaks to this community, and this gift with purchase is our way of saying thank you to the people who make The Prime Leaf what it is.”

Customers can receive the exclusive tee as a free gift with any $40 purchase on April 20 at both dispensary locations, while supplies last. In addition to the apparel, Montoya has also designed this month’s limited-edition Prime Slaps collectible sticker, further tying the campaign into the brand’s ongoing creative initiatives.

The collaboration coincides with The Prime Leaf’s largest sale of the year. Medical patients can access early deals from April 13 through April 16, with the promotion expanding to both medical and recreational customers from April 17 through April 20. Highlights include $24 house prepack half ounces and 50% off all brands, with some stipulations.

Through art, cannabis, and connection, this year’s 4/20 celebration invites the community to come together once again — rooted in Tucson, and elevated by creativity.
