Chinese hot pot restaurant eHotPot plan announced plans to open mid-December at 243 E. Speedway Blvd., Ste. 141.
Wendy Karahalios, a Taiwan native, will run the restaurant with her husband Alex Karahalios.
“She likes to eat hot pot,” Alex said. “It has been her dream for a while.”
The 2,700-square-foot building will feature a modern vibe with bright colors and a pebble floor. Additionally, it will seat around 84 inside and 16 on the patio. Customers can sit at tables or at one of the two bars: one bar faces the outside, while the other faces the kitchen.
While the restaurant will feature cook-your-own style hot pot, it will not feature the traditional communal pot for the table. Instead, each person will have their own induction burner. Furthermore, payment will take a modern approach.
“The food ordering will initially be done through a table side waitperson, who will be using an iPad,” Alex said. “Payments can be made at the table [with] credit card or contactless payment. We eventually hope to have customer direct ordering at the tables as an option.”
Individual hot pots will start at about $15 per person. The price includes a soup base and a set amount of vegetables and protein. Additional hot pot items are available a la carte from $2 to $8.
Traditional spicy beef broth will be available along with rarer options such as miso broth and vegan broth. A kimchi base will also be available.
The dipping sauce station will feature traditional options such as sesame sauce, leek sauce, chopped garlic, and more.
Furthermore, eHotPot will feature appetizers and an extensive Asian drink collection with options such as boba teas.
Lastly, the restaurant will feature Taiwanese Snow Ice, a style of finely shaved ice with fresh fruit and a variety of syrups and sauces.
Tentative operating hours are 11 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Friday through Saturday. Hours may expand based on demand.
