This season in Tucson is full of community events, concerts and festivals. While the social calendar continues to fill up, it is important to make time to fill our refrigerators and pantries with local, fresh food. Save a spot in your schedule to take an hour or so to meet with the hard working, energetic market vendors.

Community Food Bank Farmers Markets

Pure Joy Planet, a global culinary school, will be at the Santa Cruz River Market on Thursday. Stop by and meet instructors that have trained over 300 students from 20 different countries since 2010. Learn how to use fresh produce in creative, delicious and unique ways from the vegetables available at the market.

Santa Cruz River Farmers Market

100 S. Avenida del Convento – Thursday 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

  • RattleBox Farm has harvested a beautiful variety of carrots, chard, kale, bok choi, beets and butternut squash.
  • Dragnass Soups makes lovely handmade soaps, shampoos, scrubs, and balms. All of the products use organic herbs, natural colors and oils.
El Pueblo Mobile Market

El Rio Parking lot, Irvington Road and 6th Avenue – Monday 3:00  – 5:00 p.m

Community Food Bank Farm Stand

3003 S. Country Club Road – Tuesday 8:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m

  • Abundant Harvest Cooperative will be bringing a bright collection of produce, including apples, garlic, bell peppers, sweet peppers, zucchini, fresh herbs, pomegranates, peaches and eggs.

FoodInRoot

Family Weekend is coming to the University of Arizona and FoodInRoot will be having a special farmers market on Friday to celebrate. Head to campus and enjoy several local favorites. The market will be back to its normal day the following week, Wednesday October 19.

Heirloom Farmers Markets welcomes Autumn Giles to the Rillito Park Farmers Market on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Ms. Giles will be signing copies of her first book, Beyond Canning. She will also be participating a chef demo where she will be teaching canning and fermenting using farmers market ingredients.
