Time Market owner Peter Wilke quietly purchased Sam Hughes neighborhood market Rincon Market on Wednesday of last week.
First things first — fishmonger extraordinaire Yuri Rabayev is staying. Also, Wilke plans to develop the meat and charcuterie program to a similar level.
While Wilke plans to bring Time Market’s attention to detail and quality of curated goods, customers shouldn’t expect a “Time Market II.” Rincon Market is about 14,000 square feet, while Time Market is about a third of the space at roughly 4,000 square feet.
The market will feature organic and local produce, specialty groceries, fish, and meat. Additionally, customers can expect a quality coffee program and house-made pastries as some of the first noticeable changes, followed by a full specialty market and a comprehensive remake of the menu.
Last but not least, Wilke said Rincon will also have their own unique artisan bread program.
Since Rincon Market has been open a few years shy of a century (it opened in 1926), Wilke understands its value to the neighborhood.
“We plan to build on the great neighborhood support for Rincon Market,” Wilke said. “It’ll be a place for anyone who loves great food and beverages.”
