Tucson Tamale To Open Third Location in Former Jax Kitchen

Tucson Tamale To Open Third Location in Former Jax Kitchen

Jul 1, 20141 min read

In an effort to meet growing demand, Tucson Tamale owners Todd and Sherry Martin have announced plans to open a third locationĀ in theĀ fall of 2014. The new location will be inĀ the former Jax Kitchen, at 7286 North Oracle Road near Ina Rd.

This marks the second opening for Tucson Tamale in one year and their third location. Tucson Tamale’s east side location onĀ Tanque Verde openedĀ in January.

ā€œWe didn’t expect to open a third space until at least 2015,ā€ said Todd Martin. ā€œBut as requests from our northwest customers kept increasing, we realized our opportunity to serve them might be sooner than we expected. We’re so excited to meet and serve this community of Tucson.ā€

The new location will offer dine-in, pick-up and off-site catering to the surrounding neighborhoods.

ā€œJust like our other locations, we will be rolling tamales fresh daily in the kitchen,ā€ said Martin. ā€œGuests will even be able to watch the kitchen in action from the glass window in the dining room.ā€

Stay tuned for updates about the grand opening slated for October.

At Tucson Foodie, we’re pretty excited about this – especially that open kitchen where we can watch the magic happen.

Do you have aĀ favorite Tucson tamale?Ā

Tucson Tamale is located at 2545 E. Broadway andĀ 7159 E. Tanque Verde.Ā Follow them on Facebook or onĀ TwitterĀ at @TucsonTamale. Click here for the full listing of where to buy their famous frozen tamales.

@Talegacoffee at 177 N. Church Ave. transforms into @_Velvetcowboy after 4 pm, bringing cocktails, tapas, disco lights, and a lively bar atmosphere to the same space. The dual concept comes from the team behind Talega Coffee Co., with coffee and scratch-made breakfast and lunch served during the day, followed by happy hour and bar service at night.

Velvet Cowboy’s grand opening is Oct. 16, with upcoming events including drag brunches, DJs, and live music.🪩

ā€œOpening this place feels a little surreal. To now have a space where we can bring together coffee, food, art, booze, and all the weird things we love feels like a reflection of how far we’ve come.ā€ —Tyler Melo
