By now, local whiskey fans – and plenty of non-local whiskey fans – are well-aware of Whiskey Del Bac’s Scottish-inspired American single malt. (And if you aren’t aware, where’ve you been?!)
While their flagship products are regularly available all over town, seasonally, the company releases a distiller’s cut. These limited releases tend to vary greatly so there’s a good reason to try each one.
For Del Bac’s upcoming Summer 2021 Distiller’s cut release, WDB went with aging in French Sauternes barrels.
From the spec sheet:
Our summer’s 2021 Distiller’s Cut showcases our award-winning classic single malt aged in French Sauternes barrels. On the nose you might find honeyed apricot, vanilla, and red fruit or berries. The palate is an explosion of bright stone fruit and baking spice that gives way to a pleasantly long peppery finish of cola and cedar.
This latest release is limited to 755 bottles. And these seasonal releases do tend to go quick.
