Tumerico is #1 on Yelp’s list of Top 100 Places to Eat in 2024

The Yelpers have spoken and Tumerico has taken the #1 spot on Yelp’s “Top 100 Places to Eat in 2024.” And, we’re not talking about just locally — this list includes 100 restaurants from all over the U.S.

This year, Yelp’s data science team made the list by using the data generated from community submissions. From there, they narrowed down the list with “the expertise of our community managers and Trend Expert to curate a list as quirky, interesting and unique as the Yelp Community itself.”

Tumerico, which is owned by Wendy Garcia, who was also recognized as a semifinalist for a James Beard Award in 2023, is no stranger to Yelp’s recognition — they were listed at #8 last year.

“When I opened Tumerico, I wanted people to try traditional Mexican food, but vegetarian and vegan,” Garcia told Yelp. “It’s all about those recipes I made with mom, dad, and grandma—tamales, chilaquiles, enchiladas, barbacoa — whatever Mexican dish you can think of, we can make [a vegetarian version] at Tumerico.”

Tumerico is located at 2526 E. Sixth St. and 402 E. Fourth Ave. For more information, visit tumerico.com.

Buendia Breakfast & Lunch Cafe (Photo by Hannah Hernandez)

Oh, and that’s not all! Other Tucson restaurants are in the spotlight on this year’s list as well like Buendia Breakfast & Lunch Cafe. The local spot on First Avenue was also recognized last year and in 2024 they came in at #39 out of 100.

“Tucson has found a new star! Love their little touch of a sprinkle of alegria on every dish they bring out. No detail is ignored here. Unreal. Everything is made from scratch and it shows,” said Yelp user, Russell B.

Buendia Breakfast & Lunch Cafe is located at 2530 N. First Ave. For more information, follow Buendia on Facebook.
