The last week of January offers many special treats: the kick-off to our Gem Show, the Boxyard’s fourth anniversary weekend, and even a whole beef butcher class — just to name a few!

THE BOXYARD’S ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND

Join The Boxyard for its fourth anniversary three-day weekend. They’ll be having drink specials all day and live DJ music. On Saturday, they’ll have a vintage clothing pop-up by @zonasoles and @houseofthreadsaz.

MEXICAN WINE & TAMALE PAIRING
Thursday, January 26 from 5 – 7 p.m.
Tucson Tamale Company, 7286 N. Oracle Rd.

An unconventional, but exceptional pairing: Tamales and wine!
Pop in for a Mexican wine and tamale tasting. Tucson Tamale Company has teamed up with Nossa Imports to bring you five Mexican wines paired with five premium tamales.
Cost: $10 entry fee will be donated to La Paloma Family Services.

BURNS & DOUGHNUTS

Celebrate Burns Night with Batch on Friday. Burns Nights is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns, the author of many Scots poems. The suppers are normally held on or near the poet’s birthday, January 25, known as Burns Night.
Batch will feature a flight of various Johnnie Walker expressions, with a custom doughnut hole pairing.

KID’S NIGHT OUT – DINNER & MOVIE
Friday, January 27 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Drop off the kiddos at Antsy Nancy and take yourself on a date night! Your kids will learn the wonderful Chinese tradition of making homemade dumplings — just in time for Chinese New Year. The dumplings will be paired with steamed white rice, edamame, and orange chicken and eaten (successfully?) with chopsticks.
After dinner, it’s time for popcorn and treats while we enjoy watching Disney’s animated film, Mulan.

WHOLE BEEF BUTCHER CLASS

Join Ben Forbes and his team as they teach their first-ever whole beef butchery class! All students will take home a box of beef and enjoy wine and charcuterie during the experience.

SAND-RECKONER WINE TASTING & CHARCUTERIE BOARD MAKING

Swirl, sip, and sample your way into the week. In this workshop, you’ll sip on five soon-to-be-released Sand-Reckoner wines while customizing and snacking on your charcuterie board.
You’ll taste five Sand-Reckoner varieties: A white, rosé, and three reds. Humble Board’s owner Emili Krzyzanowski will guide you on how to pair the meats, cheeses, condiments, fruits, and sweets to create divine flavor combinations and style your board so it’s beautifully put together; you’ll take home whatever is left.
