Join this Saturday morning expedition to learn about a wide variety of useful plants (both common and obscure) found growing in the spectacular wild lands found just outside the city limits.

Topics to be covered during the class include:

  • field botany/plant I.D
  • plant family characteristics
  • legal-ethical harvesting/processing/preparation methods
  • edible/medicinal/utilitarian uses
  • regional ethnobotany
  • plant toxicology (plus tips on how to avoid poisonous look-alike species)
  • natural history
  • plant conservation and at-risk species
  • sampling of a variety of wild edible and medicinal plant preparations

This class should prove to be insightful and rewarding for anyone interested in learning more about the flora of this unique bioregion. Cost: $50. Learn more about it here.

Get bendy with some of our favorite breweries this and every weekend! Borderlands Brewing and Crooked Tooth Brewing host Saturday morning yoga sessions at 10 and 10:30 a.m. that end in a rewarding beer afterward.

They cook all of their items in oil that contains soy and they are entirely nut-free. All of their loaded fries are made with GF ingredients and their patties are made from a combination of soy, wheat, and peas.

SUNSET SUPPER AT TUCSON VILLAGE FARM

Enjoy a fabulous “Sunset Dinner” with the 4H Healthy Living Ambassadors serving up an amazing four-course farm-to-table dinner under the supervision of renowned chef Bruce Yim. While dining, you get to feast your eyes upon the best view of the Catalinas in Tucson at sunset. Expect it to be magical!

Cost: $50 all-inclusive, from mocktail to dessert.

‘DAY OF THE BREAD’ AT THE MONICA

Tuesday, November 1 from 6 – 9 p.m.

The first annual “Day of the Bread” event will take place on the same day as the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. This bread bazaar will feature fresh-from-the-oven delights created by baker extraordinaire, Don Guerra of Barrio Bread, chef Carlotta Flores from Si Charro! concepts, chef Danny Perez’s team at The Monica, and other Si Charro! chefs.

Cost: Tickets are $50 per person and include signature cocktail tastings, plentiful samplings of bread, and unique recipes presented by the participating chefs.
